Technically, I was the FFmpeg mentor administrator. But Michael kept a keen eye on all 8 of our projects. Thanks to all the students who came through with the code this year. FFmpeg is building a good track record which should help our prospects in future GSoC efforts.<\/p>\n<p>Special notices go out to my student, <a href=\"http:\/\/codecs.multimedia.cx\/\">Kostya<\/a>, who had to pick up my slack in figuring out the <a href=\"http:\/\/wiki.multimedia.cx\/index.php?title=RealVideo_4\">RV40 algorithm<\/a> while at the same time re-implementing it; and to <a href=\"http:\/\/www.mgerards.net\/blog\/\">Marco Gerards<\/a>, for writing both a <a href=\"http:\/\/wiki.multimedia.cx\/index.php?title=Dirac\">Dirac<\/a> decoder and the beginnings of a Dirac encoder, <em>despite<\/em> what certain <a href=\"http:\/\/blogs.gnome.org\/uraeus\/2007\/04\/12\/gstreamer-projects-in-the-years-google-summer-of-code\/\">GStreamer naysayers had to say<\/a> about the initiative:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\nConsidering how long we have spent on getting <a href=\"http:\/\/schrodinger.sourceforge.net\/\">Schrodinger<\/a> up to scratch I am amazed that anyone even manage to believe they can create both a decoder and an encoder for Dirac in 3 Months.\n<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Go Marco!<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Thanks to Michael for his Google Summer of Code 2007 wrap up.
